I've wanted to stay here for as long as I can remember and I finally had an opportunity to do so. As long as you know about the hotel you shouldn't be surprised by its age, unique build or it's somewhat middle of not much location.
When we arrived the first thing I noticed was the ginger cat sleeping in the lobby. We checked in and received really great verbal information and directions from the front desk agent. Here I also learned the ginger cat is 17 years old!
Our room was comfortable, clean and quiet (for what seemed like a busy evening).
We had dinner in the Monashee Dining Room. The three of us all had the Beef Dip. It's made with pot roast ... it was very good. Our server was friendly and attentive.
The grounds are incredibly beautiful and an early morning walk was really relaxing. The ginger cat crossed paths with us out for a walk and came to visit us on our patio for some time before we checked out.
There seems to be a good portion of the hotel that's no longer used and some features are no longer in service (like the fountain in the garden).
I hoped the Cafeteria would have had more to offer in the morning as far as baked goods or even heat up breakfast sandwiches, but it was very limited. The dining room serves breakfast but we wanted to get going rather than sit down for breakfast.
We did walk around the ghost town but it was pouring rain. We didn't see as much as we wanted to, but what we did see was very interesting. The collection here is huge... toys, cars, pharmacy items amongst many others.
I'd recommend staying here at least once... for the experience. It was well worth it!
